Established in 2008, the Logistics Institute is now a world-renowned centre for research, education and expertise in logistics and supply chain management. We are a leader in applied logistics research and industry outreach programmes, both national and international. Our focus is to drive sustainable growth through viable logistics.

As a world-class institution, the institute tackles industry problems through research, education and training, industry grants and funding, enterprise consultancy and Knowledge Transfer Partnerships.

Our research blends the relevant expertise to tackle challenges such as end-end global supply chain optimisation, particularly with an emphasis on green and sustainable supply chain design and management strategies; the design of logistics hubs and corridors; intelligent tracking solutions; digital supply chain and industry 4.0 – planning and execution under massively connected systems. It also includes socioeconomic and environmental assessment of complex systems; and process design and improvement for better services.

Weve directly driven more than 500 businesses towards supply chain solutions. And weve helped to train hundreds of logistics graduates whove gone on to effect change on a global level.

Professor Amar Ramudhin is a supply chain and logistics expert with more than 25 years of experience as an educator, researcher, consultant and IT executive. He has worked on a variety of projects from classical supply chain issues (design, operations planning, inventory management, transportation/distribution planning and execution) to trade facilitation issues such as the design of logistics gateways and hubs with integrated sea-air-land connectivity.

His interest in helping organisations to better align their processes lead to the development of a new unified business modelling notation. This allows the composite modelling of an enterprises business processes, resulting in a deeper understanding of the interaction between people, processes, policies and information. This can then be used to streamline, control and manage complex systems.

Amar previously served as one of the directors of Georgia Techs Supply Chain and Logistics Institute in Atlanta. He was also research director for Georgia Techs Trade and Logistics Innovation Center in Panama. He has also held senior positions in the software industry and served on the faculty of several Canadian universities.
